With only 7 days left of their Indiegogo campaign, Craftbot have already exceeded their original requirement by more than double. The goal being to produce an affordable but high quality 3D printer that anyone can use.
We spoke to Bálint Szabó of CraftUnique; the company behind the Craftbot 3D printer.
Editor: “So what made you decide to build a 3D printer? There are now so many on the market and so many are fighting for a piece of the consumer space for 3D printing machines.”
Bálint: “Many people think that cheap machines will give poor quality 3D prints but at the same time most people also think that the big names are overpriced. M… and C… for example. Our idea was to try and hit the middle ground and it really resulted from all the feedback we received from the 3D printing community. Last week we started our Indiegogo campaign and it couldn’t have been more successful. It has been beyond all expectations.”
Editor: “Yes I went and had a look and you appear to have exceeded all of your expectations.”

3D Printers by Craftbot are affordable
Bálint: “Yes, in one month we have raised over $40,000. In fact, we were shocked as we met our target after only 2 days. Within a fortnight we have raised over double that amount for our planned Craftbot machine. Also, the offer to purchase our 3D printer for $496 will continue to be available on Indiegogo for the next 3 weeks. I am just so excited.“
Editor: What makes Craftobt so unique?
Bálint: “CraftBot is not only easy to use but ready-to-use. It will work straight out of the box. Anybody can use the CraftBot with its CraftWare software. Every young person who wants to start experimenting with 3D printing can use it. We have made sure it is all as simple as possible.”
Editor: What else?
Bálint: “We have used the best material and worked hard on getting everything precise. Also, CraftBot utilises quality laser cut metal parts, CNC milled components and high quality steel and aluminium to achieve a robust 3D printing machine.”
Editor: Thanks Bálint, it will be interesting to continue when you start shipping the Craftbot.
Some details about the Craftbot 3D Printer – see craftunique.com for more details as they are published. The Indiegogo campaign is also noteworthy.
- Size matters ! Craftbot is a desktop 3D printer that can produce large objects (250x200x200 mm, approx. 10x8x8 in) giving it one of the largest build volumes in its class.
- The build platform is heated preventing problems occurring with bending or warping. Competitors don’t tend to use a heated build platforms because it requires a stronger power supply.
- A removable build platform means it is not necessary to reach into the machine to remove a finished object.
- Touchscreen LCD – 2.8” QVGA LCD touchscreen, which makes it very easy to control the printer.
- Compatibility; CraftBot uses a standard command set. It can be controlled by CraftWare or with other software of your choice
