Multi-Colour 3D Printer

3D Color Printers
No more boring 3D prints in single finishes and colors. Industry gets a new multi-color 3D printer from Stratasys.

Stratasys the 3D printer manufacturer has unveiled their latest innovation. The Objet500 Connex3 Color Multi-Material 3D Printer. A 3D printer capable of putting down colour and different materials.

The name is quite a mouthful (we think) and hardly trips off the tongue. Could they have not chosen a name more appealing or memorable? Still I suppose customers with $330,000 or thereabouts won’t really care – it will be nicknamed Bobby, Susan or something like that by those that use them. A 3D printer which uses a triple jetting technology to combine small drops of three materials. This alleviates the usual problem of having to undertake separate prints runs and painting the item afterwards – source: BBC – article.

We like to think that big jumps are being made in 3D printer technology but it is actually lots of little small steps. We don’t expect to see multi-material and multi-colour 3D printers for consumers in the foreseeable future but you never know – we all said this about computers but look what happened. Double decker bus sizes which now fit into in the palm of your hand.
